Below is a description of various fabrics:
Cotton Broadcloth: A plain weave, medium weight tightly woven fabric with a faint rib that is soft and durable; holds a crease well and has a nice drape.
Cotton or PolyCotton Batiste: A lightweight, sheer, delicate fabric in a plain weave and has a graceful drape. A very smooth and soft, yet sheer fabric.
Cotton Sateen: A smooth mid-weight fabric with an elegantly subtle shine. It is a very soft, finely woven fabric.
Cotton Bubble Gauze: A thin, sheer plain-weave fabric made from cotton. Like a crinkle gauze, it is light and airy.
Silk Charmeuse: A light satin with semi-lustrous face and dull back. Body and drape are excellent for dresses and scrumptious nightwear.
Silk Dupioni: A subtly textured fabric woven from a double strand of silk yarn in a plain weave pattern. The yarn is uneven and varies in width, creating a series of natural horizontal "slubs", which should not be considered flaws, as they make up the unique character of the textile. It is light to medium weight and has a crisp finish with an understated sheen for an overall luxurious appearance.
Silk Shantung: A plain weave fabric with a slight rib. Shantungs have frequent slubs that give them an uneven surface texture somewhat similar to that of dupioni and it is moderately crisp.
Soft Gabardine (Polyester / Rayon blend): A worsted twill weave that is wrinkle resistant and has a firm, durable, warp-faced cloth. Considered a year-round fabric.
PolyCotton Broadcloth: A tightly woven plain weave fabric that offers a wrinkle-resistant, no-shine finish.
Matte Satin: A mid-weight smooth, tightly woven fabric with a "de-lustered" surface, which has a soft, rich glow rather than a glaring shine.
Nylon: A family of high strength resilient synthetic material.
Polyester Organza and Embroidered Organza: A plain weave fabric made of tightly twisted yarns in a sheer, lightweight with a crisp finish. Somewhat translucent with a crinkle.
Polyester Pique: A medium-weight cotton or cotton blend tightly woven fabric with a pebbly weave that looks almost like a check.
Taffeta: Crisp, plain woven fabric with a very fine cross rib. Taffeta has a smooth texture with a soft sheen on the surface.
Tricot: Durable, lightweight, sheer knitted fabric using super fine synthetic fibers.
Tulle: A lightweight, extremely fine, machine-made netting, it is softer to the touch than netting. Has a light to medium stiffness.
